Beschreibung:
This catalogue showcases more than twenty years of Sheela Gowda's artistic production. The work featured in 'Making' brings together installations and sculptures as well as a selection of works based on images, ranging from different periods and constructed using various materials and scales. Above all, this edition attempts to highlight both Gowda's poetic and political practices, grounded on a thoughtful and perceptive view of the world, accompanied by an awareness of the symbolic and communicative value of matter, objects and their remains. This selection of artworks also conveys her engagement with the process of defining form as a way of transforming meaning as she has developed her practice through a constant dialog and exchange between local artistic traditions and international forms of art. Sheela Gowda (India, 1957) is a contemporary artist living and working in Bangalore. Trained as a painter, Gowda expanded her practice into sculpture and installation employing a diversity of materials. She is the recipient of the 2019 Maria Lassnig Prize
