Beschreibung:
This collection of essays is the outcome of a conference on human trafficking held in Denver in 2003. The focus of this book is on international trafficking of women and children for forced labor and prostitution. A broad geographical and economical perspective is taken but the anthology also deals with the specificities of the socio-political background, poverty, opportunity structure, legal conditions, the role of the state, gender structure, and the organization of the trafficking business. The essays create a link from country to country, demonstrating the worldwide nature of the problem. I. Migration and trafficking: definitions, conditions, routes, and policies: Shahidul Haque: Ambiguities and confusions in migration-trafficking nexus: a development challenge (S. 3); Arun Kumar Acharya: International migration and trafficking of mexican women to the United States (S. 21); Vu Ngoc Binh: Trafficking of women and children in Vietnam: current issues and problems (S. 33); II.
