| In October we marked two decades of UNSCR 1325, a resolution that might be the most researched, discussed and embraced, and that has generated global enthusiasm about gender, peace and security. Adopted in October 2000 by the UN Security Council, this resolution is seen as extremely critical to acknowledge the role and experiences of girls and women in war zones and the absolute necessity to include them in peace talks as well as post-conflict rebuilding and reconstruction of societies and communities. On paper, this looks like a modern, progressive resolution that takes gender concerns seriously, weaving it into policy at the highest levels of global governance. | |
